Midrand, 15 January 2024 — Esri South Africa, a leading provider of geographic information system (GIS) solutions, is proud to announce its recent partnership with Atira 3D, a renowned provider of cutting-edge mining software solutions. This strategic collaboration sees Esri South Africa becoming an authorized reseller for Atira 3D’s product, WINMINOP.

Esri South Africa, with its decades-long commitment to empowering industries through innovative geospatial technologies, is excited to expand its product portfolio to include Atira’s 3D WINMINOP software. This powerful solution is designed specifically for the mining sector, offering advanced capabilities for mine planning, optimization, and visualization.

WINMINOP was originally developed to automate Peg Calculations in the 1990s and has been enhanced over the years to accommodate new survey methods and hardware used by the mining industry. It is continuously updated to align with changes in regulations and standards to ensure compliance. WINMINOP currently supports all major total station brands used for underground survey. Data processed by WINMINOP can be easily viewed through ArcGIS applications as well as all common CAD platforms.

WINMINOP has been specifically developed according to the requirements prescribed by the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy and is fully compliant with all regulations. The system is fully secured and the database is encrypted to prevent any accidental or deliberate changes to the data, while data access is restricted to authorised users only.

Benefits of WINMINOP include:

Compatibility with all modern and popular device manufacturers including Leica, Topcon, South Instruments, as well as specific support for the Leica S910 Disto.

The software is continuously improved to align with industry best practices and data standards, while features can be added on request to support any environment or custom needs.

Native integration with GIS data through ArcGIS facilitates a holistic approach to mining operations by providing access to all data through a common interface.

WINMINOP is locally developed and supported across the region by Atira 3D, Leica and Esri South Africa.

Commenting on the partnership, Ravi Pillay, Manager – Enterprise Accounts & Strategic Partnerships at Esri South Africa, said, “We are thrilled to join forces with Atira 3D and bring their state-of-the-art WINMINOP software to the South African mining industry.
