MUG-2022-Collage

← Back to Mining Community Page

Face-to-face meetings, oh how we have missed you! What a great feeling it was to see old faces (and some new ones) in three dimensions again. It was a pleasure to spend some time again with colleagues across the Southern African mining industry to share ideas, solutions and to shake hands. This was the first in-person regional MUG meeting we have held since 2019. Thanks to the presenters for providing us all with food for thought, as well as some much-needed re-affirmation that we can create workable, valuable solutions in our organisations using the power of GIS.

Many thanks to all the presenters that shared their ideas, projects and aspirations including speakers from RIIS, the Mandela Mining Precinct, AngloGold Ashanti, Ramjack and Premier Mapping and of course some useful updates from Esri South Africa on new technology trends and how they could potentially benefit our mining users across the region.

We made a bold decision to not host this session as a hybrid event, in order to encourage attendance. As such, there is no recording available, but some presentations are available on request.

Killarney Golf Club once again provided a comfortable setting for attendees, with a great hosted lunch and for those that stuck it out, a few good drinks on the 19th hole.

Thank you all for joining, and participating, we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
